vivere Christus est et mori lucrum

To live is Christ and to Die is Gain.
In looking at the skull it seems overwhelmingly obvious that God created us to be joyful. The structure of the mouth is smiling. Crazy isn't it? He could have created it sad, angry or constantly melancholy, but He didn't.

Sorrow...

Anger, although a very strong emotion is very taxing upon human hosts. Fenwick's momentary surge of rage was no exception, and soon gave way to immense grief. The fountains of his deep soul opened up. Any dam he had placed in their way, any dike of self-respect gave out, and the rain of the soul streamed from his eyes. True, like nature's deluges, those of the soul refreshes, but the downpour must come first before one sees how the grass has become more lush or the trees more vibrant...

Liz and Hellboy

A couple more sketches from Hellboy 2. Guillermo Del Toro's cinematography never ceases to astound me. All the colors are quite, um, epic.

More Gears of War

A couple more pics that didn't make it...

Gears of War

A couple paintings that didn't end up making it in a Gears of War competition.  A tad bummed, but I had fun doing them nonetheless. :-) I guess it just means that I have a lot to learn yet.

A Thought...

If a thought were perhaps tangible in the brain, would it look like this?

Kéntauroi and lycanthrope

Apparently Kenauroi and Lycanthrope are the greek names for Centaur and Werewolf respectively...
This pic was inspired by Kekai Kotaki.

Angel

A character design for a game. This character is supposed to be able to control light and dark... Not sure how that works exactly, but it made for a fun subject.

constantia et virtute

Latin for "by firmness and courage". Fitting? I'd like to think so.

Richard Schmid study

So I thought it might be interesting to do a study of the master Richard Schmid.  I borrowed the basic image from him, then tweaked it quite a bit. I think that I can learn a lot from him...
